Compose music with a visual score

Louis Bertrand Castel (Montpellier, 15 November 1688- 9 January 1757) was a French Jesuit mathematician who lived between the seventeenth and eighteenth Centuries. He worked for many years on his ocular harpsichord and his idea of combining sound and image inspired this game. Take the grid, place the cards and then open the App: take a picture of your composition and then listen to the music you just created. You can make endless combinations and play as a conductor starting from visual communication. Characters, objects, animals, instruments have sounds, music and noises that the app reads and combines: but you decide which sound you want first and which ones you want at the same time, simply by composing the grid (or leaving empty boxes). How many music can you compose? Did you discover the composition rules? How many sound stories could you tell?
The music elaborates the Carnorum Regio of Pliny the Younger (62-113 AD) in the adaptation of Giovanni Canciani, musician and creator of the Mozartina. Louis Ca was born as an educational project with the middle school of Paularo in Carnia (Friuli Venezia Giulia): the students recorded the sounds of the mountains, the elements of nature, the lullabies of the grandmothers and made the first elaboration game card graphics inspired by the Czechoslovak designer Libuše Niklová.
